In the Republic of Karakalpakstan, general construction and installation works have been successfully completed on the construction project of the Surgil Booster Compressor Station (BCS) — one of the key facilities in Uzbekistan’s energy security infrastructure.

The booster compressor station is designed to increase the pressure of natural gas extracted from the Surgil field, followed by its transportation for processing at the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex (UGCC), where valuable gas components are used to produce polymers. The station’s annual gas compression capacity is 1.8 billion cubic meters, or approximately 4.8 million cubic meters per day.

The project’s EPC contractor is Enter Engineering, a company known for implementing advanced technological solutions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reliability.

According to the project design, the BCS includes two parallel gas compression units manufactured by Baker Hughes.

Currently, the construction and installation phases have been completed, and commissioning works on the gas compression units are underway.

The launch of the compressor station will significantly boost gas production at the Surgil field, creating an additional resource base for high value-added production through stable gas supply to the Ustyurt GSP (Gas Separation Plant).

Moreover, the new facilities will allow for increased gas extraction from the fields operated by the Ustyurt Gas Production Department by redirecting gas from low-pressure fields for compression.

This project is not only of strategic importance but also of significant social value. Increased natural gas output will contribute to reliable energy supply for households, businesses, and social institutions, facilitate job creation, and support the sustainable economic development of the region.
